Google My Maps is a powerful tool for creating and editing maps to use with students in class. Besides its integration with Google Drive, My Maps offers a wide variety of interesting features that make map creation a simple task with no major learning curve. In today’s post, we want to particularly highlight one very important feature which is often overlooked by many teachers. This is the ability to print at a high resolution (4 times your screen’s resolution) both maps you create and those shared with you and even maps you found on other websites. Also, 'Your printed map includes a legend, which lists the map’s layers (including their placemarks and other features) and any saved directions that were selected in the left panel. '
Here is how to print your map:
- In the left panel, click the map menu button
. Or, if the map is view-only, click the share icon

- Click Print map. (If you don’t see this option, make sure you’re signed in to your Google account.)
- In the “Print map” dialog, select the page size, orientation, and output type:
- PDF: Creates a PDF file, which you can download to your computer.
- Image: Opens your browser’s Print dialog.
- Click Print
